Unforgettable Moments: Celebrating Ilocos Sur National High School's 122nd Foundation Day
Waking up on an early Saturday morning isn't really my thing, but for Ilocos Sur National High School's 122nd Foundation Day? I wouldn't miss it for the world. Foundation day is incredibly important as it reflects on the school's origin and journey over the years. It serves as a moment to look back on achievements, boost school spirit, and acknowledge the institution's legacy. Through sparkling events such as parades, field demos, and concerts, it strengthens the sense of unity, pride, and belonging among students and teachers.
As the day began, a countless number of students gathered at
the field, preparing for the parade. Many of them held their tumblers and caps,
knowing it would be a little hot since it started at 7 am. When the parade
started, we walked along the cobblestone streets of Vigan City, feeling a
strong sense of pride and excitement. After a long walk, we returned back to
our school. One of the emcees introduced each grade level and section, and when
it was my class's turn, my classmates and I shouted, "ALL IS WELL,
MAXWELL!" with great enthusiasm.
Furthermore, when it was time for the field demonstration, all grade levels from 7th to 10th were ready to showcase their talents by performing festival dances representing different festivals in the Philippines. The boys were the first to perform, so unfortunately, us girls, being in the 10th grade, were the last to take the stage. While the 7th and 8th grade boys were performing, all of us girls in my class were preparing in the classroom, applying makeup or braiding our hair. When I finally made it to the field, the crowd was lively and wild, cheering and applauding the wonderful performance by the 9th-grade boys. However, when it was time of the 10th-grade boys, we were fully supportive, as their choreography and props were genuinely spectacular. Finally, it was the ladies' turn to shine, and we watched in awe as the 7th to 9th-grade girls delivered an outstanding show. Of course, save the best for last. My fellow 10th-grade gals and I danced gracefully, putting in our utmost effort. We synchronized with the music, shaking our props made with crepe paper and captivating the audience with our vibrant energy and precise movements.
Lastly, after what felt like an eternity of waiting, the concert for a cause finally arrived! In my opinion, this part of the event was the best thing that has ever happened. It was truly an unforgettable experience filled with electrifying performances, incredible talent, and an atmosphere of pure joy and excitement. The teachers and students absolutely nailed it when it came to playing the instruments and delivering powerful vocals. We all enthusiastically sang along to the iconic music they performed, including songs from Guns N' Roses, Ben & Ben, and Taylor Swift. The entire gymnasium was filled with dynamic energy.
In summary, Ilocos Sur National High School's 122nd Foundation
Day was a momentous occasion that celebrated the school's history and
achievements. The day was marked by a lively parade, amazing field demo, and a
marvelous concert, all of which helped students and teachers feel a sense
of solidarity, pride, and togetherness. It was a remarkable moment that
highlighted the skill, effort, and school spirit of the entire community.
